Mtskheta-ananuri 1 day Our tour will start in the morning (09:00-10:00). First we drive to Mtskheta one of the oldest cities and a capital of the Georgian Kingdom of Iberia during the 3rd century BC - 5th century AD. To visit: Jvari Church (6 th-c). Svetitskhoveli - the biggest Christian temple in Georgia - was erected in the 11th c in the same place where the first Christian church in Georgia stood in the 4th c. Samtavro - (11th-13th c) a monastery complex near Svetitskhoveli. The burial and coronation place of the Georgian royal family. Lunch in local restaurant We will visit Ananuri, a Castle on the Aragvi river(16th - 17th cc) About 80km.s from Tbilisi. The fortifications enclose, amongst other buildings, two churches.
